Voor studenten: vormingsaanbod als gidsen in de Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal van Antwerpen.

Are you interested in arts? Do you like to guide people in a cathedral in your own language? Do you have an open mind to meet people from different European nationalities and Christians from others denominations? And are you looking forward to live together with other students for three weeks and a half (common language: English)?
Maybe the international project of giving guided tours in Antwerp Cathedral (Antwerpen, België(n); Antwerp, Belgium; Anvers, Belgique; Anversa, Belgio; Amberes, Belgica) can be a nice opportunity to have an extra-ordinary holiday.
The city of Rubens and Van Dyck will be worthwhile; don’t forget that our city was once a ‘Cultural Capital of Europe’. Antwerp is a very cheerful and flamboyant city and we hope you will discover this aspect too.
Voluntariness is indeed the basic principle of our organisation; but we don’t presume you to die from hunger and thirst. The Cathedral guaranties your lodgement, food and drinks, formation and documentation, entrances into museums and exhibitions in Antwerp. For individual souvenirs, telephone-calls, drinks in bars and partially for excursions you pay by yourself.
Our formation period will take three days before we will give our first guided tour. As you‘ll discover while reading the approximate timetable, each day we‘ll try to deepen out another aspect of the history of the Cathedral and of Antwerp. In other words you will get the opportunity to enrich your knowledge every day.
What is the program of an extra-ordinary working day?
Five days a week we offer three times a day a guided tour (in your own language) to the tourists of your language. Every working day we have further formation about one aspect of the Cathedral and we are going to see other museums and churches. And every day we have an ecumenical Morning Prayer, which you will prepare sometimes.
Usually on Monday and on Saturday we organise trips to interesting sites all over Belgium (it is a small country). The tips you might get for your guiding tours will be collected for some expenses of daily life and partially for the trips (transport, entrances in museums).

On Sunday morning each of us is most invited for the religious service: in the Cathedral or in the church of your own denomination.
The project 2009 will start on Wednesday 22nd of July 2009 (in the morning) while Saturday 14th of August 2009 is the last day that we do guided tours. So we leave Antwerp on the 15th in the afternoon.
